Rice, grain and pulses are a basic/staple requirement for a well stocked, healthy pantry. Add a handful to vegetable soups or use leftover cooked rice in a stir fry.

Grains and pulses provide a healthy alternative, and relatively inexpensive, source of protein. Couscous is full of protein and made from semolina. It is a beautiful accompaniment to a tagine or a stew, and makes the perfect base for a salad.
